Attention Grabbing Blog Posts
written by Lauren BaileyIt’s an unfortunate truth that bloggers must capture their reader’s attention in order to market their blogs effectively. If your blog’s content doesn’t attract a reader’s attention, there’s no way you can hope to compete with the millions of bloggers competing for exposure. If you’re at all suffering from a stagnating readership on your blog—receiving little to no feedback from your readers — I would recommend that you take an honest look at your work. Consider the advice below and determine if you could implement them to improve your blog.
Snappy Titles

Try to give your posts titles that would generate interest among your readers. If your blog gives advice, make titles that assert your knowledge in the field. Use confident imperative phrasing like “Improve your business model now!” for posts to highly driven business bloggers.
Alternately if you’re running a photo blog that posts enigmatic content aimed at artists, opt for an appropriately artful title. Think of a catchy title that doesn’t immediately inform the reader as much as it piques their curiosity. You wouldn’t want to have a post titled “Check out this new picture!!” if your audience consists of introspective artists.
You’re the best judge of your readership — tailor the titles to their interests.
(Very) Recent Content

Keeping your content up-to-date is pivotal to remaining relevant in your sphere of interest. You can’t expect to retain your readers if you post once every two weeks about topics over a month old. Keep tabs on pertinent news by frequently visiting news sites that feature stories related to your blog’s theme. If you’re not sure about the latest trends, monitor the blogs of your peers (or competitors) for insight into the current topic of discussion in the blogosphere. It’s likely that you can lend an enlightening perspective on a topic, even if it’s been blogged about dozens of times already. You want have to worry about recycling current news as you write your content from a new or innovative angle.
If you keep your blogging up to date with current events then readers will gradually come to you for the latest batch of news. Above all, keep it recent and keep it fresh!
Engage the Readers

Engaging the blog discussions, if done genuinely and consistently, will yield rewards over time. Open the dialog between blogger and reader by asking questions in your posts and requesting feedback. Garner trust among your readers by sharing content that’s substantive and genuinely useful to them. Give the reader a real presence in your blog by addressing them directly and responding to questions that may benefit the blog’s readership if answered.
Allow guest writers to post on your blog so your readers can see that you’re open to sharing your blog with writers who share similar views. Your blog will grow with each new person who feels like they’re in some way involved with it.
