WEBEXPEDITION18 Never Stop The Exploring

I was searching on the internet  to find some interesting works for graphic design and I discovered an admirable talented work of Pete Harrison (aiko). He is a freelance graphic designer running a few creative projects on the side. In this article you can read something about him and take a look at some of his works which will give you inspiration for your work!

Pete Harrison has been interested in graphic design from a very young age, and quickly realized this is the career path which he wanted to follow, so he could tailor his studies towards this. At secondary school he studied art and design, and then digital art at university specializing in design. Pete was mostly self taught and his studies just helped him to set briefs that he could work around. During University he started creating digital images just for fun.
Over the next few years he set up a website to showcase his creations, and expanded his online presence. He began posting on a few community and social sites and networking with other designers and illustrators.

He was featured in a few magazines and books and exposure started to grow. Clients started contacting him after that to do freelance work, and getting paid for doing something he has enjoyed, which was a dream come true really. He took a full time job in London working at an agency, and while he was here he set up a clothing label as a hobby, which he called Funkrush, and commissioned a bunch of friends to do some designs for him.

Funkrush developed very fast and now showcase’s designs by some of today’s top illustrators and designers as well as being stocked in shops all over the UK and Europe. Alongside this (and his full time job) he decided to take up freelance and gained some high end clients in the fields of graphic design, web and interactive media  and his online presence was still expanding. He was recognized by Computer Arts magazine as one in ten internationally recognized designers in the year 2006.

He was getting more freelance projects and Funkrush was expanding even bigger, so he  decided to quit his  agency job and take up freelance full time. He moved back to Devon, southwest UK – this is where he grew up. In between all of this he set up the Desktopography project and got loads of friends involved in that too.

Pete decided to set up a new project  with his friend Olly, called SuperCombo it sells unique, high quality clothing and items inspired by their love of video games, anime and general nerdyness. Its pretty new and runs as a sister company to Funkrush, keep an eye on that because they have lots of great ideas and products to come!
