‘Solo’ Giveaway: A Project Management App for the Modern Freelancer
written by Nikola LazarevicA lot of online tools seem to lack style and individuality. Solo, the debut product from UK startup company Thrive, certainly challenges this trend. Whereas most project management apps are often associated with being too cumbersome and somewhat uninteresting, Solo is a PM tool that stands out from the crowd.
Solo is a tool which is made by designers, for freelancers. Not only does this show in its design, which is centered around the use of elegant typography, but also in its functionality. The app has a crisp and clean aesthetic, which helps to present data in a visual way, making it far easier to digest than scouring through complex spreadsheets.
However, looking past the aesthetics of the app (which is beautiful by the way!) lies an extremely well thought out user interface with great attention to detail, centered around the needs of the modern freelancer.
It’s a great all-in-one tool covering project management, basic financial business stats (it’s not an accountancy package), timesheets/time tracking and invoicing. Solo does all of this with a visual swagger, with simple to understand graphs giving easy access to your business data. Great when faced with those tight project deadlines! Because of its integrated nature the application makes projects so much easier to manage. One-click-invoicing, which can be sent directly to the client, is a great way of quickly connecting invoicing to tasks, helping you to maximize the most of your time. Right now you can try a 14 day free trial of Solo, which is available on their website. After this trial period it will cost $10 per month, which considering many of the unique features of the app, seems very reasonable. Now that you know a little bit more about Solo, for a limited time only, Thrive are offering three lucky winners the chance to win a year’s FREE subscription to the app. Just answer the following question for your chance to win: What is the name of the main typeface used on the website? For a chance of winning, all you have to do is visit Solo’s website and then leave a comment in the box below answering this question. Remember, we only have 3 year-long licenses, so get your comment in quickly. Connect with Solo! Their Twitter and Facebook pages are also as follows: The giveaway will end on the 12th October 2011. The winners will be contacted via email and announced on Facebook and Twitter. Good Luck! Sign up for the app’s 14-day free trial, and let us know what you think in the comments. Is this something you’d use as a freelance designer? What other features would be useful? And the winners are (in no particular order): Congratulations to the winners!
