Useful HTML5/CSS3 Frameworks
written by Nikola LazarevicFrameworks are an interesting topic. Some developers absolutely swear by them, other developers see them as unnecessary complications that add a lot of superfluous weight to what would otherwise be fairly simple code. I find them to be quite useful and timesaving.
HTML5 and CSS3 frameworks are becoming more and more popular every day, so in this post, we’ll examine some of the most popular CSS3 and HTML5 frameworks.
Gridless
Gridless is an awesome HTML5 and CSS3 framework for making responsive, cross-browser websites with beautiful typography. Created by Harry Roberts, this framework is built to work on smaller screens straight out of the box with minimal effort. Inuit.css main features are fully supported even in IE6 + basic support for new HTML5 elements. Less Framework 4 is a CSS grid system for designing adaptive websites. It contains 4 layouts and 3 sets of typography presets, all based on a single grid. Baseline was born to be a quick way to prototype a website and grew up to become a full typographic framework for the web using “real” baseline grid as its foundation. Built with typographic standards in mind, Baseline makes it easy to develop a website with a pleasing grid and good typography. Gravity is a SASS based framework for making powerful, easily maintainable HTML5 websites. It helps you rapidly prototype your ideas and will generally make your life much easier. In a nutshell, G5 Framework is a HTML5 website starter framework packed with some essentials for every new project and sprinkles of PHP & jQuery. Perkins is a pure HTML5/CSS3 Framework. It has a simple HTML5 template including many of the supported tags, a set of LESS stylesheets and mixins for common tasks such as creating navigation, rounded corners, gradients and much more. The 52 Framework is a framework built specifically for utilizing HTML5 and CSS3 in a cross-browser, standards-compliant manner. HTML5 Framework is just what you think it might be – a framework for creating layouts in HTML5. The base file includes HTML5 elements and has a CSS file that styles these elements.
